Final Project

I thought I would show a few pictures for my final this week.  I’ve been taking pictures of my friend Olivia to show how she contrasts from “average” college students.  Her three heroes in life are Paula Deen, Sandra Lee, and Martha Stewart, so you can see tat she enjoys cooking, cleaning, entertaining, and making sure everything is perfect.

I went ahead and her pose for a portrait.

I really didn’t make her wear the dress and pearls for these pictures, that is how she typically dresses for school and work and then comes home and prepares dinner for whoever is home: her roommates, boyfriend, or me with my camera haha.

Oh and this week I commented on Jennifer’s blog here.

  1. Brandon,
I love the photographs you took of Olivia this week. She just so happens to be the receptionist at the arena I work at so I was pleasently surprised to see her as the subject of your project. I like that you are experimenting with different angles to keep the pictures visually interesting. I also like that the three photographs you posted tell a clear story: cooking dinner, cleaning up afterward, and then making dessert. I also like the outfit she’s in, as well as the bright red kitchen items she has. While I know that those were not things that you had direct control over, I think they really add to the theme of your project as well to the esthetics in the pictures. You do want to be careful with your strobe. The first image is a little washed out.
    Great job!

  2. brandon,
i think that your modern day martha stewart idea is hilarious! your pictures are great, i like all of the angles you tried, and the reflection of her in microwave is really cool! the colors are nice and makes the photos more interesting so kudos for that. in my honest opinion my favorite picture is the last one. you’ve obviously caught her in her environment and it truly shows, and that’s what photography is really about, right? all in all i’d say a job well done!
